One thing that is important to know about our little gem is that we are just that LITTLE. Seriously, we are the size of a shoebox. What does that mean to you? You have to go outside to get to the bathroom, it’s loud in side, we have to use some what unconventional methods to accomplish our goal and we need to direct people in all aspects of their visit to make it work. The best thing about it is that we are honest, hard working people that will do their best to make sure you enjoy your visit.

We have been in business for 40+ years and we hope that you are not offended if we do not change the way we do business for you. We sincerely love to interact with our customers and forge long lasting relationships as we all love the Old Place with a zeal that is not often found in today’s climate. With 5 booths, three tables, a private room and bar that runs the length of the dining room we can seat a maximum of 72 people, that’s if each booth is stuffed to the gills. With our limited seating capacity and the cost it takes to put cooks in the kitchen and servers on the floor we need to perform seatings in order to make a decent profit. It takes an enormous effort to operate such a tiny place that is as busy as we are.

We seat our tables for dinner at 5:00 / 6:30 / 8:30. This means that there is 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete your dining experience if you arrive at 5:00pm, 2 hours at 6:30pm and you can stay until we are finished cleaning if you come in at 8:30. If you like to lounge and not have any pressure to complete your dining experience, then please book your reservation at 8:30pm.

We have found that 1 hour and 30 minutes is enough time to complete service but only if the customer is on time and works with us to get orders in to the kitchen in a timely manner. We do not allow for our 5pm guests to order appetizers and then request for us to come back and get the entrée orders. We require that the whole order be put in at once; rest assured that we will give you time to enjoy appetizers before the main course arrives. Often times we may ask for your dessert order while you are eating, this is simply to better manage the time available. If this seems like a real bad situation for you then please do not make a reservation at 5pm. Rest assured that if you have a 6:30 or 8:30 reservation that we are doing everything possible with the previous seating to seat you on time.

We do not have a freezer nor do we have an abundance of storage space, therefore we run out of things. It is very difficult to gauge how many orders of clams, bone in rib eyes and or fish specials will be ordered before you arrive so if this is something that you just can’t deal with then I suggest you try one of the multitude of chain restaurants that have all of their food delivered frozen and have a warehouse in the back. Here at the Old Place we have no other choice but to offer you one of our other delectable offerings

Our bar is a first come first serve scenario, the good news is that we are located in one of the most beautiful places on earth so having to wait outside, weather permitting or better yet at Cornell Winery, which sits just next door is a perfect scenario. We do not allow for our patrons to wait inside the restaurant as there just isn’t enough room for us to work and navigate around you. We have a bar wait list that we will place your name on and then seat as space comes available. We look at Cornell winery first by calling over there where one of the Cornell employees will call out your name. If no answer we will look out front or to the side before moving on to the next name on the list. If you leave and come back, we will have your name circled and will return to it for the next opening but please try and let us know in advance before leaving the property.

If anyone gives you a wait time, please understand that this is only an estimate. We have no way of knowing how long it will take as we do not have seating times at the bar and we can only guess when people will leave. You are more than welcome to come back and check where you are on the list at anytime.

Please be quiet! We are located smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood. We have signs everywhere asking our patrons to please not yell across the parking lot. Respect is an important quality in humans and we hope that you exercise yours when you visit us. Our neighbors are truly unique people that have fallen in love with the serene beauty that our area offers and we would like to protect their serenity as much as possible

Yelp, if you read through our reviews on Yelp you will see people say some pretty amazing stuff and then there will be the occasional jerk who wants to publically berate us for being a 42 year old restaurant with un-matching service ware, menu items that are not always available, no cute hostess up front, 107 years of patina just about everywhere you look and workers who have character, when this is what we are. So if you are shocked when you get here please take a little responsibility for your own decisions we have done our best to prepare you for The Old Place!

  1. Please respect our neighbors when visiting, they actually live here and they allow us to operate
  2. Do not bother bringing annoyingly loud vehicles to this place, we will simply ask you to move on!
  3. Please don’t yell across our parking lot to have a discussion, it is much classier to simply walk up to them before speaking
  4. Please don’t bring someone that you liked yesterday and decided to hate today, especially if you intend to tell them anywhere near our place
  5. Please don’t try to prove to us or our customers that excess is a good thing, save it for home when you are alone
  6. We promise to show respect first, after that it’s your turn!
